Julie Cerel, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Professor in the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky. She received her PhD from the Ohio State University and completed post-doctoral work at West Virginia University and University of Rochester. Her research has focused on suicide bereavement and suicide prevention. She is the author of over 25 academic publications and co-author of Seeking Hope: Stories of the Suicide Bereaved. She is currently the Principle Investigator (PI) of the Military Suicide Bereavement study funded by the Military Suicide Research Consortium from the U.S. Department of Defense. She also serves as Board Chair and Research Division Chair for the American Association of Suicidology (www.suicidology.org).
